- Offering Various Courses
In order to enable inmates to acquire livelihood skills, increase their employability, and develop habits of hard work, in order to reform themselves and smoothly adapt to social life after they are released from prison. - Combining Social Resources to Offer Practical, Technical Traditional Craft Skill Training Classes
Additionally, we offer training courses that combine social resources to promote practical and technical traditional crafts skills. These classes encourage inmates to unleash their creativity and learn to create artistic, commercially viable products. The aim is to strengthen the individuals' confidence in employment, so that after release, they can enter the job market quickly, shorten their job adaptation period, and achieve the goal of skill training.
The "Mario Brothers" Inmate Training Class - "Water-Plumbing Class C" - Create Diversified Employment
In order to train inmates to acquire a skill, the Yunlin Second Prison of the Ministry of Justice's Correctional Agency has partnered with the Yunlin-Chiayi-Tainan Regional Branch of the Ministry of Labor of Workforce Development Agency to organize a "Water-Plumbing Level C" skill training certification class, which began on August 8, 2022.
In traditional plumbing practices, the master-apprentice system and informal learning can often lead to uneven service quality. This time, the Yunlin-Chiayi-Nanning Branch of the Workforce Development Agency has specially dispatched Deputy Trainer Guo Yibin, who has a master's degree, and Hu Shengjie, who has rich practical experience in the industry and represented our country in the 2013 International Skills Competition in the plumbing category, to serve as instructors. Both trainers hold top-level certifications in industrial piping and Class B certifications in water supply piping. The goal is to provide inmates with formal training opportunities in standard construction practices and other specialized skills.
After completing 240 hours of professional training, the inmates will take the Class C skills exam. Those who pass will receive the "Class C Plumbing Technician Certificate" issued by the Workforce Development Agency and the "Water Supply Plumbing Installation Technician Qualification Certificate" issued by the Water Resources Agency of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (two certificates with one exam). Upon completion, they can work in various roles such as technical staff for construction companies (for underground piping installation in sewer, rainwater, and water supply systems), technicians in plumbing companies (handling indoor water and drainage system installation, sanitation, and sewer connections), or even start their own businesses offering repairs for home water supply and drainage systems.
In recent years, the social job market and economic development have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and inflation, creating even greater challenges for inmates reentering society. To help inmates learn livelihood skills while incarcerated and assist them in securing employment after their release, Yunlin Second Prison has been continuously developing practical skill training courses. Currently, the prison offers certification programs such as basic-level welding, funeral service (Class C), horticulture (Class C), and the newly established Class C water supply piping program. In the first half of 2022, 62 inmates participated in skill assessments, and all 62 passed, achieving a 100% pass rate, demonstrating the effectiveness of the training.

Welding Class Collaboration and Product Promotion Tasting
To integrate social resources and the power of enterprises, a signing ceremony was held on September 2, 2013(Monday), at the prison's administrative building and De Yuan Skill Training Center, in collaboration with the Tainan Vocational Training Center, the Taiwan After-Care Association Yunlin Branch, Shangyi Construction Company, Junli Steel Materials Company, and Dazhen Engineering Company. The goal was to create job opportunities for inmates about to be released and to offer skill training, allowing them to obtain a Class C welding certificate and the opportunity to work with partner companies after their release. During the ceremony, various skills training products, including pottery, Koji pottery, glass painting, and baked goods, were displayed, allowing guests to taste food prepared by inmates from the food baking class.
Fermented Food Production Class
This training course is designed specifically for female inmates, combining traditional local industries to cultivate talent in fermentation techniques. The goal is for the inmates to acquire a specialized skill that will help them quickly re-enter the job market and reintegrate into society after their release, thereby revitalizing local traditional industries.

Glass Painting Class
Cultivating talent in traditional crafts is not easy; it requires a long period of skill development. To preserve local traditional crafts and enhance the cultural quality of the inmates, masters in glass painting from the Yunlin-Chiayi-Tainan area were invited to teach in the prison.
Class Overview: The class is held every Tuesday and Thursday. Students independently complete tasks from modeling and coloring ceramic materials to producing finished products. The teacher only demonstrates and provides assistance. Students are encouraged to enjoy the process of learning the craft.

Horticulture Class
Horticulture experts from both academic and practical backgrounds in the Yunlin-Chiayi area are invited to guide inmates in learning about planting, design, and landscaping. In the process of caring for plants, they also gain an understanding of life education, contributing to their personal transformation.
Current Status: The class teaches inmates to grow organic herbs (such as thyme, lemongrass, oregano, and sage etc.), which they then harvest. The students use the harvested herbs by baking them to make organic herbal bags. Through the whole series of production processes, students can acquire a skill and experience the fun of running a business.
